When constructing a structure that is expected to amass a large, distributed load on substrata that displays poor stability characteristics; whether that is low soil density, a high water table, or where there is susceptibility to a large amount of noise and vibration, it is common to use piles to ensure the structure is well based. Piles are designed to transfer load through poor quality soil and water to stronger, solid layers that have a higher weight bearing capacity.
Whereas raft foundations are considered shallow foundations, pilings are considered deep foundations, and as such are very commonly used all over the world, especially for tall structures and in areas with a high water basin.
Bored piles are constructed by first removing the spoil from a bored hole, and then inserting the pile into the hole. One variation on this which has become increasingly more common is CFA, or continuous flight auger piles. With CFA piles, a hole is bored, and then immediately filled with concrete through the shaft of the auger. The auger is then removed and a steel pile cage inserted to provide strength to the pile.
CFA Piling is a popular form of piling because it tends to be much quicker and more economical to complete than other methods, and piling rigs can be modified to fit in areas of restricted headroom or space.
This is almost what I'm looking for, but not quite. Can you modify this or make bespoke items?
With items manufactured by us we can normally accommodate modifications. We are also able to manufacture items to bespoke dimensions, with no MOQ on some products. Contact us for details.
I have a large, bespoke reinforcement project, can you help me?
Sure. Our team of designers and fabricators thrive on this kind of work. We can usually take on highly bespoke or large tonnage projects with fast turnaround. Contact us today to discuss your requirements.
I need [number of] [product] by [date]. Is this possible?
Clearly the complexity of the project, product, process is the limiting factor, but we do try to offer the fastest turnaround possible. Please contact us with your specific requirements and we'll get back to you with a response.
Do you provide an on-site steel assembly/fixing service?
We do, within a 90 mile radius of our premises in Swadlincote.
